September 2018 Amboseli Primary School

When I visited Amboseli Primary School in rural Kenya in September 2018 someone in the tour group asked the teacher, Anna Tayiai if they had a library? Her face lit up and she smiled and said “No, but we’d love to have a library.” I couldn’t stop thinking about her remark. I thought, how hard can this be. We just get some books donated and ship them to Kenya.
So in many ways Anna is our Founder.

When again you sent the other storybooks and the encyclopedias we created a. Small school library which serves as a resource place and has started to arouse the reading interest to the learners especially those who like history and the English language.

September 2021 Isnet Primary School
Last September I visited 9 schools, one of which is Isnet Primary School where Anna now teaches. I’m aware of some of her trials and tribulations so her beautiful smile and positive attitude are not only infectious but also inspirational. She is an amazing lady and totally devoted to teaching.

September 2024 Kimana Primary School
Supporters Richard Hoeksema and Greta Sandberg visited Kimana Primary School on their trip to Kenya.
This school received books from Libraries for Kids, and coincidentally, Anna (some words are left out here) was there to greet Richard and Greta upon their arrival.

In her own words
My journey with Libraries For Kids, Int’l began when I first met Roy in 2018 when he visited the school I was by that time. At the time, I could not have imagined how that meeting would eventually bring such a meaningful change to our school and to the lives of our students.
Part of the letter is left out here.
I am grateful to Roy and the entire Libraries For Kids, Int’l team for believing in our school and in the potential of our children. Every book that reaches our students is an opportunity for them to learn, imagine, dream, and see possibilities beyond what they already know.
Part of the letter is left out here.
Warm regards,
Anna
