Hi, We recently had a hiccup with books shipped to KwaMboo and Kyalilini Primary schools in Kitui, Kenya. Francis Wanjiku, our dedicated volunteer in Kenya, traveled 3 hours in a rainstorm by public transportation (motor bike or overcrowded minivan) to Kitui to find the books. She located them and delivered them to the schools. Here are her remarks when asked if she was the person in the photo.
Yes, it was me. The man is Mr. Mutyauvyu, the Headteacher. My dad was the cameraman here. We could not assemble a team to help us as the teacher resides away from his workplace and considering it was the rainy season, it did not make much sense, making the other stakeholders leave their farms. We agreed to take more photos with parents and students when schools resume. At Kyalilini it was much easier as the headteacher resides close by and we got several photos. The students were speechless, they had never seen encyclopedias before and learning that a stranger is providing everything at their doorstep for free and willing to give them more, is motivating them to work harder. They started reviewing the books as soon as they opened the boxes. The experience was awesome Roy, I saw kids hungry for knowledge, endless questions and really curious! Libraries for Kids is going to make a difference no doubt!

We have a waiting list of 12 more schools to help in Kenya. I have connected with my wife Sharron's former student, Godfrey Moogy in Uganda. He graduated from Virginia Intermont College with a degree in Graphic Design and computer information systems. He is now teaching IT at the international school and coaching soccer. Godfrey is excitedly looking for schools for us to help.
Library Named For You?
Would you like a library named for you? Setting up a library and supplying money for new textbooks costs about $2,500. Donate $2,500 and we will have the school name the library for you and send you pictures of your library. Sponsor a school today with a donation on GoFundMe.
GoFundMe
We have set up a GoFundMe page to raise money. No donation is too small and each helps in two ways. The more activity on the GoFundMe page, the higher its visibility, and also every little bit helps. Please click here to donate.
