What happens when the Founder and Board President of a nonprofit steps back from a leadership position after years of service?

For Libraries For Kids International, the answer is simple: honor the legacy, preserve the mission, and continue moving forward.

We are proud to share an important leadership announcement that celebrates Roy Austin's lasting impact while highlighting the strong governance and dedicated leaders guiding our organization into our next chapter. The future is bright, and we're just getting started.

As I reflect on this moment, I am reminded that the true measure of leadership is not the title someone holds. It is the foundation they build, the lives they impact, and the people they inspire to continue the work long after the spotlight shifts. Roy's vision transformed a simple belief, that every child deserves access to books and educational opportunity, into a movement that has touched communities across Africa and beyond. His retirement as Board President marks the end of an era only by a "title", but it is also the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Libraries For Kids International. You will read the details on his retirement in our official press release below.

Today, the heart of our mission is stronger than ever. Our board remains engaged. Our leadership team remains focused. Our programs continue to grow. Most importantly, our mission remains unchanged.

As we look to the future, we are actively building the next generation of leadership. We are seeking passionate individuals who believe that literacy changes lives, who value strategic growth and who want to help shape the future of an organization that is expanding its impact across Africa.

In the months ahead, our Board of Directors will be identifying the right individual to serve as our next Board President. We are also seeking leaders interested in board service who can bring expertise, fresh perspectives, meaningful connections and a heart for service.

If you have ever wondered how you could make a lasting difference in the lives of children around the world, I welcome that conversation. Whether you are a nonprofit leader, educator, business executive, philanthropist, community advocate or someone simply looking to be part of something bigger than yourself, I invite you to connect with me. The next chapter of Libraries For Kids International is being written right now, and we are looking for leaders who want to help write our story with us.
